“The Web is What You Make of It”

As Internet usage continues to grow at a remarkable rate, people are leveraging the Web in many novel and unexpected ways. Some uses are very much welcomed, and of course, there are some we frown upon.

One possible solution to Web misuse lies in adopting a risk management approach. This involves not only accurately assessing system vulnerabilities but also the risks to the society and the Web itself. With this understanding, it then also entails leveraging empirical knowledge from the discipline of Web science to help us prevent, mitigate, and cope with risks resulting from Web misuse.

I intend to make a lasting contribution towards creating and employing solutions that genuinely ensure a promising future for the Web and its benefits for everyone at all levels of society.
